EAST GREENWICH, RHODE ISLAND, April 9, 2003:  Changes are underway at The Saint Elizabeth Community.  While the community’s non-profit ownership and commitment to providing quality care remains unchanged, new names and logos have been recently adopted.

“As an organization, we have more than 120 years of equity in The Saint Elizabeth name and we decided that we should remind our residents, family members and friends that we are all part of this one continuum of care by linking facility names and logos,” said Steven J. Horowitz, president and chief executive officer.

Effective immediately:

  • Saint Elizabeth Home will be known as Saint Elizabeth Home, East Greenwich;
  • Metacom Manor Health Center will be referred to as Saint Elizabeth Manor, East Bay;
  • Westminster Place will be renamed Saint Elizabeth Place, Providence;
  • And the soon-to-be opened assisted living facility in Elmwood will be called Saint Elizabeth Court, Providence.

“Although logic dictates that this is a natural step in the evolution of our organization, it was (in reality) a difficult move to make.  There’s a lot of history connected to each residence and its identity, but we’re hoping that the Saint Elizabeth link will help raise general awareness about the great care that we have in common and the resources that we share,” added Horowitz.

The Saint Elizabeth Community, a non-profit, non-sectarian charitable
organization that has been providing quality care to the elderly and infirmed since its founding in 1882. With four Saint Elizabeth Community locations around Rhode Island, the people in the Community's care have access to a full range of services - independent apartments to long-term nursing – and a staff who treats them with compassion and respect, just like family.
