Steven J. Horowitz
President and Chief Executive Officer

Steven J. Horowitz is president and chief executive officer of the Saint Elizabeth Community.  Since assuming this leadership role, Horowitz has spearheaded significant facility renovations throughout the Saint Elizabeth Community.  In total, Horowitz oversees 20 managers, 450 support staff, four residences and five adult day centers.

Horowitz assumed his current role in 1998, having been promoted from executive director of the Saint Elizabeth Community.  He originally joined the organization in 1985 as an administrator.  Prior to joining the Saint Elizabeth Community, he was the assistant director of the Jewish Home for the Aged of Rhode Island.

Throughout his career, Horowitz has dedicated himself to improving the quality of life for all aging Americans.  He is a member of the American College of Health Care Administrators.  He is currently serving as a delegate to the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, and also as president of the Rhode Island chapter for two years.  Horowitz is currently on the Board of Rhode Island Generations and the Warwick Boys & Girls Club. Horowitz has volunteered as a member of the board of directors of CareLink, the Alzheimer’s Association of RI, the Kent County Visiting Nursing Association, the Kent County YMCA and the Alliance for Better Nursing Home.  He has served as a member of the Lieutenant Governor’s long-Term Care Coordinating Council’s reimbursement sub-committee, the Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce’s Worker’s Compensation advisory board, and the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators.  Additionally, Horowitz was a member of the 1995 - 1996 class of Leadership Rhode Island.
 
A graduate of the State University of New York in Stony Brook with a degree in economics, Horowitz also obtained his master’s degree in business administration from Long Island University where he concentrated his studies in healthcare administration.
